What issues does NS ISO deal with?

The NS ISO Act only deals with support issues – child support and spousal support. NS ISO does not address parenting issues - like decision-making responsibility or parenting time - or property division issues. NS ISO deals with establishing, changing, and enforcing support orders between jurisdictions.

  • Child support: money paid by one parent to another to contribute to the children’s living expenses. For more information about child support, click here.

  • Spousal support: money paid by one spouse to another to contribute to the others’ living expenses. For more information about spousal support, click here.

You may need to start an additional process if you have issues other than child support or spousal support that you wish to address with the court. Where and how you address these issues may depend on several factors, like where you live, where the other party lives, and where the children live. If you are addressing parenting arrangements, you likely need to address that issue in the court nearest to where the children are living. These matters are complicated. If this is your situation, you should speak with a lawyer.
